National Diabetes Awareness Month
With nearly 24 million Americans living with Diabetes, and an additional 57 million at risk, the American Diabetes Association has had November declared as Diabetes Awareness Month.
- Diabetes is the leading cause of kidney failure.
- Diabetes is the leading cause of new cases of blindness among adults.
- Two out of three people with Diabetes die from heart disease or stroke.
- The death rate from Diabetes continues to climb while the death rates due to cancer, heart disease and stroke have declined.
If awareness and a campaign for change to current trends does not happen then it is likely that one out of every three children born in the United States will face a future with Diabetes.
In the past year 814,000 people have joined the movement to Stop Diabetes. You too can also join in their goal to reach 1,000,000 by visiting Stop Diabetes.
Stop Diabetes provides other ways you can support the cause by sharing information through videos and blogs and becoming an advocate.
