Maybe it bounces once or twice.

Some parents throw it right in the trash. Others boil it. Some just give it a rinse in the sink.

May is National Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month

Monday, May 13th, 2013

Each year, the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) declares May to be “National Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month”. It’s a peak season for asthma and allergy sufferers, and a perfect time to educate your patients, family, friends, co-workers and others about these diseases.

Many asthma and allergy sufferers wear a medical ID bracelet or necklace in order to be able to communicate the condition during an emergency. This information is imperative to paramedic’s and everyday good Samaritan’s efforts to be able to help provide the care needed quickly and effectively.

American Medical ID provides top quality medical alert ID bracelets and necklaces with free engraving and fantastic customer service!

Asthma Solutions for Spring and Seasonal Asthma

Monday, February 28th, 2011

spring asthmaEveryone looks forward to spring, except for people with asthma. For them, springtime does not just mean warmer days and lighter clothing but it also can bring seasonal coughing and asthma attacks. But with some simple precautions, asthmatics can still enjoy springtime without risking painful and dangerous asthma attacks.

Avoid Triggers

People with allergies to molds, dust mites and pollen are usually prone to getting asthma attacks from new smells or very strong odors. Because of this, people with allergies should not partake in chores like dusting. Staying indoors when strong-smelling pesticides or fertilizers are placed on lawns and gardens is also helpful.  We also suggest keeping track of your allergy triggers using a simple allergy listing form.

What Should You Engrave on Your Medical ID?

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

What to engrave on your medical ID is one of the most commonly asked questions at American Medical ID. While this can be overwhelming, we have put together a list of recommendations and tips for engraving on your medical ID bracelet or necklace.

  • We recommend engraving at least your first name on your medical ID. While this is not a requirement, it could help emergency personnel get your attention if you are unconscious or in a diabetic coma.
  • Engrave your most important medical conditions first such as diabetes, asthma, seizure disorder or angina that could determine how emergency personnel would treat you should you be unable to speak for yourself.
