The jeweler I took it to to attach the additional charm was also impressed with the quality of the bracelet as well as the ingraving. He attached the small red charm with my name and DOB at the pulse point so it won’t scratch the ingraving or make it noisy, like a charm bracelet. It’s a great piece of jewelry and does not scream medic alert bracelet , but is easily noticeable to any EMS worker or doctor looking for such an item. Tue Nov 01, 2011: I really love this bracelet. I’m a 28 year old professional, and this is perfect for me. It’s delicate, stylish, and it doesn’t scream medical alert bracelet. It does look very similar to a watch, and being afraid that a medical professional might mistake it for a watch if it slides backwards, I bought a small charm to dangle off the back side of it. The engraving plate does scratch some, but since you can also have the inside of the watch engraved, I am not worried about that. This is my first medical ID - the need for it arose from the medical aftermath of a near fatal car accident - and I’m very happy that it doesn’t have to be a big ugly reminder of everything I’ve been through.

The bracelet (ID section) was scratched within a week. I am a stay at home mom so my tasks are the usual daily tasks, nothing that should cause such noticable scratching to the surface.
