I had ordered the smaller of the two available sizes , 8", after measuring my wrist twice. However, I will still need two links removed, as I can slip this over my hand, with the clasp closed. Anyone with larger wrists, should do fine. I did check with American Medical ID, prior to ordering and they did say, that links can be removed by a jeweler. Hopefully, that's true. I can't see why a professionsal jeweler wouldn't be able to do so.
I have noticed that one of the pins that hold the links together was beginning to come out and that's on the first use, so I can't speak to the quality of this bracelet, but it appears to be adequate. I'll have my jeweler look at that. This bracelet also is very lightweight, for stainless steel, but I don't plan on being in situations, where it would get hit very hard or doing work, such as working on a car, where the risk of damage may be much higher.
The engraving is clear, but not highly visible in certain lighting conditions. An EMT or first responder would have to use a flashlight, possibly, but I would think they would routinely have one handy in that line of work.
The engraving is clear. American Medical ID does not offer colored or filled in engraving, as they claim it just wears away, which is most likely true. But, I would not want someone staring at my bracelet, reading about my personal medical issues anyway, so it's perfect in that regard, yet good enough for those who need to read it.

Order form states to order 1/2 inch larger than wrist measurement. Order arrived and the bracelet is way to big. Called customer service and was told to take to jeweler. I took to two jewelers and the links can not be removed and I can't return. I was told I could place another order. Why would I order another bracelet and pay for that one and I have one I am already paying for and can't wear?

I got one for my Father and son. They are great and look very much like regular jewelry. I would recommend to everyone. All of the items are good. Got another style for my mother in law last year and it still looks great! Great looking item!

Since I have started taking Warfarin My wife was worried about my bleeding and my Dr. advised wearing a medical ID, neck or wrist. I did not want something on my neck (I have a chain I wear) and after looking at the choices out there I did not want something flimsy that looked like some child's bracelet. If i was to wear it all the time I wanted something strong and attractive. This was the best choice and and looks great. The only minor issue is a lack of instruction on how the clasp works, could be that I am just unfamiliar with bracelets.

I owned another Medic Alert style bracelet which the band failed after a few years and could not be repaired - I chose to replace it with this unit and as of now I am very satisfied . . . the My IHR feature is the seller to me - the function flawless once you are logged in, the bracelet is attractive and comfortable; I call ti a win-win.
