Welcome Family Caregivers
If you were hurt and could not speak, who would know to help your loved one? If you were wearing a specially designed “I am a family caregiver” bracelet, pendant or dog tag, the answer is EVERYONE.
American Medical ID and the National Family Caregivers Association (NFCA) are partnering to promote the use of medical identification jewelry for family caregivers. American Medical ID provides freedom for caregivers who want confidence that their family member's health will be attended to in the event they are unable to do so.
Family caregivers receive a 10 percent discount on all American Medical ID purchases with an additional 10 percent to be donated back to NFCA. To take advantage of this offer, click the link below to place your order ensuring code NFCA appears in the Promotional Code area at the end of your checkout. Please note that your 10 percent discount will not appear until the final Checkout Page.
American Medical ID also offers a discount for additional IDs purchased with the same order.
Engraving Tips for Caregivers:
American Medical ID recommends caregivers engrave the following on their ID:
I am a family caregiver for my (relationship)
Care recipient's name
Relationship--mother, father, spouse, sister, etc.
Urgent needs and instructions for the recipient
Who to contact in your absence
- If you wish to provide more information on your ID, American Medical ID recommends engraving "see wallet card" and include additional instructions on the free wallet card included with your order.
- Care recipients are recommended to wear a medical ID engraved with a brief description of their health conditions, medications, food, drug or insect allergies and the caregiver's contact information.
- Persons taking blood thinners are especially urged to wear a medical ID.
Additionally, American Medical ID provides a free Online Medical Registry with purchase of a medical ID. Participants can maintain an online personal health record of their medical conditions, emergency contact information, prescriptions, over-the-counter medications and personal and medical files such as living wills, donor cards, EKGs and CTs. This file can be accessed anytime through a secure online connection or a 24-hour emergency telephone line.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please feel free to contact American Medical ID at 800.363.5985.
